WestWind has the experience and tools to provide reverse engineering services for mechanical and electrical components to replace obsolete or legacy parts.
Reverse engineering of leagcy parts can be accomplished with the use of a furnished technical drawing package or with the use of a customer provided sample part or component. The delivered part can be fabricated of the original specified materials or updated to more lightweight, more durable and/or cost effective materials.
Rapid Prototyping/Reverse Engineering Composite Nose Mount
Awarded in May 2009, this rapid response 30 day task required reverse engineering of a government-provided composite mount, update of the Pro-E model, generation of fabrication and tooling drawings and delivery of two (2) composite nose mounts. Delivery of all hardware, documentation, and the nose mounts was accomplished on-time, with no rejections.
Alaskan SAR Instrument Panel
This effort, to replace the instrument panel in a Search and Rescue (SAR) aircraft for the Alaskan National Guard, was the result of an unfortunate crash landing. The damaged, bent, warped and creased instrument panel was delivered to WestWind for replacement or disposition. The engineering team developed the drawing package, manufactured, fabricated and finished the panel, quality assurance inspected and approved the release of the panel for a quick return and installed within 2 weeks.
